7 Powerful Tricks to Reduce Stress

Studies have found many health problems related to stress. Stress seems to worsen or increase the risk of conditions like obesity, heart disease, diabetes, depression, Alzheimer’s disease, and asthma.

Staying Present

Stress only exists in the mind.
We worry and overanalyze in our thoughts and it causes stress and tension. If we are able to live in the present moment, we realize that everything is okay right here, right now. In the present moment, we have the ability to take action and make changes that will ease our stress.

Deep Breathing

Practice deep, mindful breathing. When we are experiencing stress, we tend to take shallow, short breaths. Our minds and bodies do not receive enough oxygen and cleansing energy. Simply taking a few, deep breaths can quickly shift your mindset, mood, and the way you feel in your body. Deep breathing soothes the nervous system, calms the mind, and relaxes the body.

Zooming Out

We can reduce stress by expanding our perspective. Stress is caused by overanalyzing the details and focusing on negative thoughts. We can release stress and find greater peace by taking a look at the bigger picture. When we expand our awareness and see things from a broader perspective, we realize that everything is going to be okay. We begin to see the positive side of things and trust in the greater timing and flow of life.

Keep it Simple

We can release stress by focusing on simplicity in life. We often overcomplicate situations when we are worried and stressed. We think we need to make drastic changes or figure everything out before it will get better.
In truth, it’s often most helpful if we let go and keep things simple.

Letting Go of the Problem

Letting go of the problems in our mind. We tend to focus only on the problems in our lives instead of seeing the possibilities. We magnify what we don’t like and forget to appreciate what is going well. We can discover a true sense of peace and acceptance with what is, instead of fighting against life.

Seeing the Possibilities

Stress is caused by focusing on the problems instead of opening our minds to the possibilities. Every situation has infinite resolutions and solutions.
If we practice opening our minds and discovering the many amazing, positive possibilities that can flow from our experiences, stress cannot exist.
